Carl Eric Johnson

Photo of Carl in bright sunlight Carl’s experience with DB2 dates back to 1987, starting with version 1 release 2 on the mainframe. In 1995 he formed his own corporation, and since then he has been specializing in DB2 on the Windows and Linux platforms, along with related Web-enabling technologies.

An educator at heart, Carl especially enjoys developing and presenting his own classes and seminars, but he is also available to teach classes for other courseware vendors, and his company has been affiliated with Themis since 1996. In addition to teaching, he enjoys the challenge—and the reward—of occasional consulting assignments. He fills the rest of his time designing, enhancing, and maintaining Web sites for various clients.

Frequently invited to speak at conferences and user groups, Carl’s classes and seminars are on such topics as DB2 Universal Database and the DB2 family of products, distributed database and application design, Web-based technologies, and other client/server and object-oriented issues.

Previously, Carl worked as a consultant for Washington, D.C.–based TERA Systems, Inc. His applications background includes COBOL, CICS, IMS, IDMS, and DB2, with additional experience as a DB2 database administrator.
