The swing check valve is designed to prevent reverse flow through the pump and is commonly used for medium to very large nominal diameters.

These valves offer minimal head loss due to limited flow deflection, resulting in low flow resistance. The position of the disc and therefore the resistance varies with flow velocity. Gravity-operated swing check valves must be installed horizontally or vertically with the flow entering from below.
